APDT Conference!

Well I'm heading out early tomorrow morning for the Association of Pet Dog Trainers annual conference in Denver, Colorado. Every year the APDT brings together top trainers and behaviorist in the field of dog training for 5 days of continuing ed. for those in the field. Every year I come back with exciting new methods and information to pass on to students. We are very lucky to be training dogs in such an enlightened era. Positive reinforcement techniques have enabled us to not only communicate with our dogs much more effectively, showing us how truly capable these animals are but in a way that encourages a strong bond and relationship like no other, between 2 animals of different species, working together as a team.

I haven't even left yet and I'm already excited about getting back and showing you all that I'll learn!

See you all next week!

Iron Dogs Sports Camps

Well I've just returned from the Iron Dogs Sports Camp in Malibu, Ca. where I was invited to instruct musical freestyle to the campers and their dogs! The Iron Dogs Camps are all inclusive camps... expert instruction, food and lodging for 3 days for 1 very reasonable price. It is for adult handlers and their dogs, who want to try new and different activities. The offerings include but are not limited to flyball, tracking, disc dog, freestyle, agility, clicker, massage, animal communication, puissance and where the locations allow, dock diving! Top instructors come from all over the states and Canada to bring their expertise to the campers. All the camps are held at rustic locations with cabins and central dining halls and the daily activities usually include morning and evening hikes!

The camps are offered all over the U.S. I'll be instructing again in Texas in October and there will be a camp offered in Puget Sound area in February. If you would like more info on the camps go to www.k9sports.com.

Also, watch for their new offerings: K9 Vacations! These are geared toward total relaxation with your dog, including side by side massages, specially set up shopping sprees in major department stores with your dog! A special dining room for you and your dog! And other relaxing sight seeing and side trips for both you and your dog! The first will be in San Francisco! Check their website for more details! I know I'm going to try to attend!
